Georges Valmier (1885-1937) is primarily known as a French painter but was also a poet, writer, and art theorist. He was initially influenced by Fauvism and Cubism and later became a representative of Purism, a movement in modern art characterized by clear forms and a reduction to geometric shapes. Valmier had close connections with other modern artists such as Pablo Picasso and Fernand Léger, and participated in numerous exhibitions and art fairs in France and abroad. Today, he is regarded as one of the important figures of Purism and 20th-century modern art.
