Hello, my name is Sander Poppe. I am a landscape and marine photographer, born in Zeeland and living in the Alblasserwaard. Nature – and especially the sea – forms the common thread in my life and my photography.
For me, photography is more than just capturing a beautiful image. After being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and later facing other health challenges, the camera became a way to find peace and reconnect with the world around me. Being outdoors, the changing light, and the sound of the sea: those are the moments when everything just feels right.
My photos are often created in silence. By the coast, amidst vast landscapes, or in places where there is room to breathe. I work with natural light and subtle color tones, because that is precisely where the power of an image lies. Not just to capture a landscape, but to convey a feeling: peace, vastness, and sometimes a touch of melancholy.
Although I stay closer to home more often these days, my bond with the sea remains unchanged. With my camera, I try to capture images that take you outside for a moment – photos that bring a moment of stillness to a busy world.
