These young donkeys are funny to watch.
They romp with each other all the time and make the weirdest grimaces.
Our donkeys originate from Africa and are descended from the wild donkey. Over time, they were also used as pack animals in Europe.
In the mountains, they can balance over the smallest paths as pack animals - amazing.
The long auricles work on your funny bone when you see these herd animals so busy.
They are not nearly as stupid as some may think and should be treated fairly.
Donkeys are quite intelligent and need to be led consistently because if they don't trust it or they don't want something then violence won't help either. In these donkeys, you can see an eel stripe running down the back from their head to the tail.Over the shoulder, the stripe runs from left to right. This creates a cross, also known as the andreas cross.
I found these frolicking specimens near a village in Senegal where they were simply running loose. When you come across a donkey suddenly and quietly trudging across the road in the dark, it's a bit of a shock, of course. They entertained me very pleasantly for a while.
