Spotted sandpipers pass through our Wadden Sea in large numbers every year on their way to their wintering grounds. These tiny waders are really impressive all together. Yet they are about the size of a starling. When the water rises again, they all sit and sleep on a high-tide refuge until it flows back and they can continue feeding on the mud bottom of the Wadden Sea. If during this process they are chased by a peregrine falcon bv they fly back and forth over the stand like a cloud until calm returns. What a treat to see them going back and forth like that. Of course, we have to be very sparing with such places otherwise they are constantly disturbed and lose more fat than necessary. They need this along the way to survive. Of course, there are many more species you encounter there so the atmosphere is unparalleled. I enjoy these animals with you.
