This photo is of a beautiful hairmoss. I chose to have one flower in sharp focus and the rest out of focus/fuzzy, I thought this photo would look better as a macro photo. It may be a strangely shaped flower, it actually looks more like a flower bud. I took the picture on a sand drift on the Veluwe where this moss species occurs. The flowers turn red when they finish blooming. This moss species usually blooms towards the end of winter. I used an 82mm macro lens for this macro photo. When I took this picture it was also sunny even though it was near the end of winter.
