The kingfisher in the picture is the first kingfisher that I ever managed to photograph. I took the picture in National Park De Biesbosch, the Brabant part of De Biesbosch to be exact. I took this picture from a sailing boat. It was on a beautiful morning in spring with a morning sun. I was sailing along a stretch with lots of trees and bushes with fresh spring green along the waterfront when I saw this little kingfisher sitting. Where this kingfisher was sitting you cannot get to on foot because there is no path, in the background you can see willows. To see a kingfisher you actually need some luck, to capture them on a photo you actually need some more luck. The luck for me was that this kingfisher stayed still long enough for me to take a picture. The kingfisher gets its name from the color of its plumage.
