You used to see many more in fields and yards but now it is not easy to meet these beautiful fowl in the field. In winter when snow may fall, things are even more difficult for them. To survive, they look for seeds there. The snow makes them a lot easier to spot in the openness of a field. I came across these partridges in the field as they used the cover of a ditch. Occasionally, the birds had to cross and came strolling out of the ditch. The beautiful horseshoe on the breast of these birds is brown and are typical of the partridge. Often they are on the move with many more but they have to be careful not to be caught by predators as they are a willing prey for the hawk or fox. When I see them I feel like I have found a good mine because I love them.
