The Páramo is a very specific ecosystem in the Andes, found at altitudes above 3,500 metres. They are generally high plains with lakes, peat and grassland. This Páramo is in the Parque Nacional Cayambe-Coca, near Papallacta in Ecuador. This ecosystem is also home to animal species such as the Tapir. On our visit to Papallacta, we decided to hike in this park. Papallacta is known for its thermal baths, and that is really the only reason most tourists go to the village. So that will be the reason we only met 2 other people during the hike.
