This pelican sits resting on a pole in Paracas, Peru, at sunset. In this part of Peru, it is cloudy most of the year, so the sun will not be seen. This photo was taken at a time when the clouds were just beginning to clear. To be in time, we had to make a dash across the beach, but it turned out to be worth it in the end.
