Mindo is considered the bird capital of the world. Among other things, this village is eminently suitable for birdwatchers. Early in the morning, the birds are best seen, only the weather can be quite fickle. When we were woken by our alarm clock at around 6 o'clock, it was raining cats and dogs, so we were not sure if the bird walk we had booked would go ahead. Our guide had no doubt, the walk will go ahead! So, with fresh reluctance, we went there anyway. From the treehouse, dozens of hummingbirds could immediately be seen, attracted by sugar water scattered here and there in feeders. The variety of hummingbirds was huge. Green, blue, white, yellow and red colours passed by. They are not shy either, judging by this photo. For me, an outing has to live up to high expectations if I have to brave the rain to do so, and this certainly lived up to those expectations. I was keen to have photos where the wings can still be seen but the movement is clear, and it worked out very well.
