A beautiful and powerful young bull enjoying the evening sun. Even before night falls, this bull eats his belly full of the succulent grass and herbs growing in this beautiful landscape.
He looks up because he heard rustling in the bushes, an old fox was passing by in the undergrowth looking for an easy meal. This disturbance was an outside chance for me to get this bull properly photographed.
The horns come into good focus and the soft evening light gently caresses the shaggy coat. The calmness emanating from this animal is impressive.
When I am in nature reserves, I always try to observe the animals. All animals (horses, goats, sheep, cows, wisents, foxes, deer, boars, birds and more) are special and unique. And yet, with the Highlanders is where I prefer to be. Powerful, clumsy, sometimes dangerous, intrusive, unpredictable but so incredibly calming.
Even looking at a picture of a "Highland Cow" relaxes me.
