I took this macro photo on the Beekhuizerzand near Harderwijk on the Veluwe. To take this photo I used a macro lens and hung my camera under my tripod to get as low a viewpoint as possible, I did flip this photo afterwards so you can see it clearly. It was late February when I took this macro photo, the red colour of this hair moss was about the only colour you could find in nature at that time. You do see this moss species more in recent years on sand drifts such as the Beekhuizerzand near Harderwijk and the Hulshorsterzand between Harderwijk and Nunspeet. Hairmoss is one of the first in the year to give colour to nature even though it is not much. This photo is still just a close-up even though it is pretty much a macro photo.
