Street photography without people. I took this photo in the Altstadt of Halberstadt (Germany).
Sometimes the things that normally ruin a photo are the very elements that make a photo. In this case, the yellow and blue bins in front of the half-timbered house, which make a nice repeat of the yellow and blue of the windows. That the yellow bins are in the middle is a dumb coincidence, but fits even better. This accidental repetition of colours gives extra prominence to the window frames. Popping colours that give a fresh boost to your interior.
The tessellation in the half-timbered facade adds an extra dimension to the whole; it thus becomes a photorealistic abstract work.... a kind of living Mondrian.
The so-called 'cuckoo' in the stone plinth breaks up the interplay of lines and creates a playful balance in the composition.
