This photo is made in the Amsterdam Waterleidingduinen.
The Amsterdam Waterleidingduinen has the largest fallow deer population in the Netherlands.
It is estimated that about 3,000 fallow deer roam (2015), which is around 0.9 per hectare.
A few have ever escaped from parks or let go and have greatly expanded in the nature reserve.
The dune area is a protected natural monument and reported to the European Commission as a Habitat Directive area.
It therefore enjoys protection according to European regulations.
Peace, space and nature are the main core values of this area.
