I took this photo of a yellow rose in the garden. When I took the photo, it had just rained, and you can still see the pearls on the flower. The rose was just opening, in the background you can see another bud from the same rose bush. To take the photo I used a flash to lighten the flower, which also gives a dark background. The shadow in the flower shows which side the flash was on. Using a flash allowed me to keep the shutter speed short, which allowed me to take this photo out of hand. I chose to shoot in portrait mode for this photo because it looks nicer. I don't know what kind of rose it is, but it is a species that does well in the Dutch climate. Every year, several flowers arrive as well.
