About "The Passage, The Hague"

About the artwork

The Passage in The Hague is a covered shopping street in the center of the city. I personally find it very similar to the Corso Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan and also seems to have been built about the same time.

It is the oldest existing shopping center in the Netherlands. It was inaugurated in 1885 by the N.V. 's-Gravenhaagsche Passage Maatschappij and the oldest part runs from the Spuistraat to the Buitenhof and was built in an internationally oriented neo-Renaissance style.

In 1929 the third arm to the Hofweg was added to the walking area. The design of this section was in expressionist style.

Here we look almost perpendicularly upward, standing in the doorway of one of the stores (House of Gerry Weber) on the central plaza located under the distinctive glass dome. The distinctive lights on either side of the doorway give a sense of scale and depth to the whole.

The technique used here is that of High Dynamic Range (HDR). Three different shots were taken, each with slightly different lighting. These shots were later combined to make the structures, the materials and the light stand out even more. I have also opted for a slightly more graphic approach by emphasizing the contrasts and color nuances.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
