The water tower in Assendelft was built in 1885 and was designed by architect D. de Leeuw.
The tower has a height of 41.85 meters and the water tank has a capacity of 1200 m³. The original height was 31.4 meters with a capacity of 540 m³.
The Assendelft ice club organizes an annual skating tour (whatever the weather) and a skating tour around the water tower.
In the 1920s a major rebuilding took place in the tower. The reservoir and roof were removed. The tower received a much larger and higher head, which contained a concrete reservoir.
Recently, the tower was restored and rebuilt, making it suitable for offices. On the top floor is a catering facility located.
