When the British were still the colonial rulers in India, they already knew that the summers in the lowlands were too hot. Therefore, during those hot months, they moved to the highlands where the air is purer and the temperature lower. That is also where the tea plantations emerged. Still places like Ooty and Munnar are popular places to spend a holiday and tea is still grown there. Along and on the slopes, tea bushes grow in long ribbons. deep green with a tree here and there. It is an abstract work of art in itself those meandering meandering bushes with the narrow paths between them. From a somewhat greater distance, it becomes an almost meditative image reminiscent of Japanese gardens in which the shape of the plants and rocks is reduced to an elementary form.
