Snow-covered bridge with Christmas lights in Amsterdam by Richard Nell

The Christmas lights are still hanging in the streets of Amsterdam, while snow has already covered the city in a white blanket. From this vantage point, you can see one of the characteristic bridges over the canal, softly covered with snow. The warm light of the street lamps contrasts beautifully with the crisp, cold tones of the winter morning.

I took this photo during a period when the city was slowly awakening. The snow muffles the sound and gives the canals and quays a peaceful atmosphere. The Christmas lights add a touch of warmth and cosiness without making the image feel busy. It is precisely this combination that makes the moment special: winter silence with a warm glow.

What appeals to me in scenes like this is how Amsterdam always shows a different side of itself. A place that is normally bustling with activity can suddenly feel calm and almost intimate. That's what I wanted to capture here.

The atmosphere of this work is warm, calm and slightly nostalgic. It brings cosiness and character to an interior. It fits nicely in living rooms, offices or practice rooms and appeals to lovers of Amsterdam, winter and atmospheric cityscapes with a story.
