Those were my thoughts when I made this work. I put thousands of points, literally. And painted the background and gold medallion with digital oil paint.
The whole story of my thoughts behind this work is that in silence, assumptions arise. Unspoken thoughts become something they were never meant to be.
We may hope that others can read our thoughts, that they know what we mean without us ever having to say it.
But to be understood, we need to speak up. To be heard, we have to make our voices heard. This is not always easy; it is vulnerable, exposing the rough edges of our thoughts and feelings. But if we hold them back (I know from experience;), we build walls instead.
To break through that, I made this work. As a reminder of the courage to say what we think, what we feel and what we mean. Only then can we be truly understood.
