I made this work based on a text I wrote earlier, about who you are in relation to your environment and 'belonging'.
It was exhibited at The Amsterdam Open Art Gallery (September 2024).
This is the text from which I made this.
But you can of course see something else in it just fine;)
"In a spectrum of hues, our lives converge,
Each colour, a story, each voice, a thread.
The city hums with layers of existence,
Interwoven paths creating a solid mosaic.
But in shadows, exclusion casts its weight,
Silencing voices, dimming the vibrant light.
Each face unseen, a loss to the whole,
Invisible lines fracture, empathy fades.
Exclusion carves wounds in the collective heart,
Fragmenting the unity we strive to build.
The beauty of differences, left unrecognised,
Weakens the structure of our shared humanity.
How small and limited is the world of exclusion,
Bound by walls that shield the unfamiliar.
That miss the richness it brings,
To remain closed off to new and vibrant realms.
Everyone needs to belong, it's human,
Our survival intertwined, dependent.
Inclusion nurtures our shared existence,
Each person a vital part of the whole.
An inclusive society breathes in diversity,
Finding harmony in the varied notes,
When we open ourselves to the unknown,
We discover the profound enrichment of unity within multiplicity."
