In the early 1990s, I painted this Marlene Dietrich (on commission) life-size on the wooden door of the entrance to Café Salon De Blauwe Engel in Groningen. Twenty years after I painted her, she was still there, on the door, in all her glory.
The door has now disappeared. But I captured her image to keep my original painting alive.
These portraits are based on a photograph of the original door.
