Masked butterflyfish – a yellow pair on the coral reef by Laura Georgi Tier- und Ladschaftsfotografie

Two bright yellow mask butterflyfish stand close together beneath a
coral overhang. Their tall, almost round bodies are covered in fine orange
lines; behind the eye lies a dark blue-black spot, which gives the
species its name.

The overhang frames the scene from the top right. On the left are light-coloured, finely
branched stony corals; between them, a window opens onto the blue water, in
which small reef perch float.

Masked butterflyfish are found exclusively in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
They live in pairs, often for life, and are almost never seen alone.
During the day, they are often found resting quietly under overhangs; at night, they become active.
Butterflyfish are regarded as indicators of a healthy reef, as many species rely on
living coral.

As a wall mural, this design is the most colourful you could imagine.
Bright yellow against turquoise creates a complementary contrast and immediately catches the eye
. It brings colour to bright, simple rooms and is particularly suitable
for children’s bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, dining rooms, paediatricians’ surgeries, waiting areas,
diving schools, travel agencies and swimming pools. The yellow appears most vibrant on acrylic glass
and more subdued on canvas.

A gift for divers, snorkellers, aquarium enthusiasts, children and anyone who loves vibrant
colours.
