On a cold morning at the North Sea I made my way to the coast before sunrise, hoping to photograph a few limicolas there. As soon as I arrived, I waited for the little limousines to show up. After some time, I spotted Sanderlings and Oystercatchers near the water. Some of them were running excitedly across the beach, looking for food. A little further in the water, I saw a Sanderling that was completely separate from the others and stood there all alone for a while. He seemed to isolate himself from the others. The cool colors and the composition I chose support the feeling of loneliness and isolation.
