About "De Gekroonde Poelenburg, Zaanse Schans"

About the artwork

Like many other mills, De Gekroonde Poelenburg has a long and complex history. For a long time the year of construction was 1869, but nowadays it is thought to be 1866 or 1867. In 1960 the mill had to move because the municipality was going to build a new residential area with the name Poelenburg. The mill was moved to De Zaanse Schans in 1963 where De Grootvorst once stood and has been owned by De Zaansche Molen ever since. In 1991 a stylish timber shed was built next to the mill. De Gekroonde Poelenburg is now a rare type of windmill: there were once more than 200 of them, but now there are only 2 left in the Zaan region. That second mill is De Held Jozua in Zaandam.

In 2004, a thorough restoration of the mill was started. The exterior was rebuilt with planks and painted in the original green colour. At the same time, the stepped scales (the partially overlapping wall of planks) of the mill body were restored to its former glory. In 2008 during maintenance the colour was slightly darker.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
