If you would like to hang a piece of Hamburg's historic port along with the famous Elbphilharmonie in your home or office, here is the solution.
In fact, I have created a beautiful cityscape of it. Speicherstadt is made up of warehouses that were part of Hamburg's port. The warehouses were built between 1883 and 1927 and partially rebuilt between 1949 and 1967. The Elbphilharmonie is of recent construction. It is a landmark on the harbour and is now one of Hamburg's most famous buildings. The building has as its base an old warehouse, Kaispeicher A, a former warehouse for cocoa, tea and tobacco, on which a glass-finished superstructure with an arched roof shape was realised.
In 1991, Speicherstadt was protected under the Denkmalschutz. On 5 July 2015, Speicherstadt was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and added to the World Heritage List.
The design of the warehouses is by architect Carl Johann Christian Zimmermann and chief engineer Andreas Meyer.
The Elbphilharmonie is by architects Herzog & Meuron.
To create the cityscape, I photographed the warehouses and the Elbphilharmonie. I sometimes took as many as 10 photos of a building to get a perfect picture of reality. I then used these buildings to compose a cityscape mirroring Hamburg's harbour. I took the beautiful sky during with one of our trips with our ship Tiberius.
