Some images you carry around in your head for a long time, waiting for the right moment. This photo is an example of that. When I finally got to this urbex location and saw the spiral staircase, I knew: now is the time.
Looking up from the centre of the staircase, an almost magical shape emerges. A spiral that balances between abstraction and recognition. Some see yin and yang, others connection or even love. The movement feels upward, light and dark merging into one flowing line.
For me, this is an image that touches. It evokes calm and movement at the same time, introspection and connection. The choice of black and white was obvious: all noise disappears and the form gets all the space it needs.
In an interior, this work works powerfully as an eye-catcher and point of tranquillity. It suits minimalist settings, people who love symbolism, architecture or images that keep intriguing.
