Oystercatchers are sturdily built, black and white waders often found on the coast but also commonly inland.
The oystercatcher's beak wears down hard but also grows fast. It can change shape with food.
For example, the beak becomes pointier when an oystercatcher pecks at emelts and worms in summer.
