A grey horse in profile with a plaited mane and pink gold leaf by Laura Georgi Tier- und Ladschaftsfotografie

The head and curved neck of a grey horse, seen in profile. Small copper-coloured metal plates run across the forehead, cheek and mane comb, following the line of the mane. The mane comb is plaited into a single continuous plait that traces the line of the neck. The background remains dark with a hint of petrol green.

The braiding of the mane has a practical origin. A braided mane lies flat, exposes the neck and reveals the topline — in competitive equestrian sport, this is mandatory in several disciplines because the judges assess precisely this line. Here, the plait fulfils the same function for the image: it guides the eye from the head to the shoulder.

This is the most formal motif in the series and is ideal for large formats. The long line of the neck really comes into its own when displayed above a sideboard, in the dining room, in the stairwell or in a reception area.

The petrol-coloured background sets the horse’s white coat off more clearly against the darkness than a pure black would. On aluminium, the copper appears metallic and cool; on canvas, it appears warmer and more subdued. A gift for dressage riders, horse owners and anyone who appreciates clean lines.
