Under a brilliant blue sky, completely cloudless, a vivid scene of the Stadhuisbrug in Utrecht, seen from the water at the Vismarkt, unfolds. At the centre of the image rises the monumental city hall, stately and recognisable with its classical facade and ornate details. From the facade, a Utrecht and a Dutch flag fly proudly, red-white and red-white-blue, contrasting powerfully with the bright blue background. Also attached to the facade is a large banner of the Vuelta, a colourful and sporting accent that gives the historic building a contemporary flair.
On the bridge itself, a few bikes are parked casually, their shadows falling across the stones. Next to the bikes hang flower boxes full of exuberantly blooming flowers; reds on greens colour the scene and add a fresh vibrancy to the urban setting. Left in the image are characteristic Utrecht canal houses, with their tall, narrow facades and large windows reflecting the sunlight.
