The crested fororopendola (Psarocolius decumanus) is a songbird of the family Icteridae (troepialen).
This bird has a shiny black plumage, an ivory beak and blue eyes. The lower tail feathers are yellow, the upper ones black. His call is grating and gurgling. The body length is 47 cm.
Their food consists of fruits, large insects and nectar. They mainly live in the dense foliage of the forest. The birds are almost constantly on the move in search of the best feeding areas.
They live in groups consisting of 3 or 4 males and up to 30 females, which each have their own place in the breeding season. The strongest man first tells the other males who is the boss, after which he starts an elongated courtship dance with lots of bends. Afterwards, 5 or 6 females are mated, who then take care of the offspring.
