The camel or bactrian camel (Camelus bactrianus) is an even-toed mammal of the camel family. In archaic Dutch, certain dialects and some expressions he is also called Kemel. The camel differs from the dromedary by the number of bumps on the back. The dromedary has one, the camel two. Traditionally camel can hit both species of the genus Camelus. The word comes from the Arabic language (جمل ǧamal) and originally it even mainly meant the dromedary: the bilious camel is not kept in the Arab world. The word camel is derived from the root ǧ-m-l, beauty, and means as much as graceful beast.
