About ‘W08, Aurum I’ by Niklas Steffen

A frontal portrait with cool, almost porcelain-like skin and a shiny gold collar as a strong counterpoint. The composition is strictly symmetrical, the gaze is direct, calm and at the same time demanding. Small, striking details only become apparent at second glance: the fine structure on the element on the forehead, the metallic spikes on the sides, and the very controlled lighting that models the face like a sculpture.

The atmosphere is cool, clear, concentrated. The gold brings warmth, but not in the sense of cosiness, rather as a counterpoint of value and tension to the cool tones.

For me, it's about presence as surface, identity as construction. The expression remains deliberately neutral, almost technical, which is precisely what creates such a strong effect. The work is not meant to tell a story, but to make a statement.

W08 functions as an iconic statement because it is immediately legible from a distance (symmetry, gaze, gold) and gains from the effect of the material when viewed up close. It fits very well into modern, minimalist spaces where a single work can dominate the wall, and it harmonises both with cool interiors (concrete, stone, glass) and as a contrast to warm materials (wood, brass, textiles).

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
