The inspiration for this work arose from the desire to capture an iconic Berlin landmark in its vertical monumentality and symbolic power - not as a tourist motif, but as part of the city's cultural memory.
I wanted to create an atmosphere that is calm but present. The sky with its clouds gives the image depth and movement, while the golden details of the statue contrast with this and focus the eye.
The message lies in the combination of history, symbolism and public space. The Victory Column stands for change and remembrance - a monument that points beyond its time.
