Tree frogs are found in much of Europe. In the Netherlands, they are hard to find. In the Achterhoek and in North Brabant, there are a few places where they occur. Moreover, they are very small with an adult body length is about 4 to 5 cm. So discovering them is quite a sport.
Usually they can be found on brambles near pools. Despite their name, I have never seen one sitting on a tree. The tree frog has fingers and toes bearing adhesive discs. These allow it to hold on tightly to stems, berries and leaves of the bramble bush. This picture does not show this because the little frog is in its typical resting position.
What makes this photo even more special for me is the little ant on the lower right side of the bramble and the little fly just visible above the frog's left eye.
