Cabo da Roca an important reference point for those sailing along the coastline. It is the westernmost point in mainland Europe. At about 150 metres from the sea, a panoramic view of the Serra de Sintra mountain range and the coast is undoubtedly worth a visit.
Today, in the vicinity of the lighthouse, which is an important landmark for shipping, some ruins remain, which are part of the special landscape that forms part of the Parque Natural de Sintra-Cascais Natural Park and is one of the attractions of the coastal hiking trails.
The location is great, the road leading to it beautiful as the building stands out against the clear sky with the infinite Atlantic Ocean in the background. Along the road, the electricity poles that stand rhythmically in the landscape and gracefully guide the road to their terminus, the Cabo da Roca lighthouse. Beyond the lighthouse, the landscape continues for quite a while and as you follow the paths along the gated precipice, the views of the landscape change at every turn as the metres go by, it is a succession of enjoyable moments.
