This graphic, almost abstract image, shows a piece of a puzzle. A puzzle, executed in dark anthracite grey with small white uneven dots in it. The pieces of this puzzle fit together, but do not fully connect, revealing the beautiful deep yellow background. But most of all, this warm yellow is visible where one piece is missing: the last piece of the puzzle!
Puzzling is a fun pastime. Small children love to puzzle and even adults continue to puzzle into old age. For many people, making a puzzle is an enjoyable hobby.
When making a puzzle, many people start by making the edge. After that, the rest of the puzzle follows. But the best part is always placing the last piece of the puzzle, the moment when the puzzle is finished and the complete picture or drawing is visible.
As puzzle pieces are special objects in themselves, it was an inspiration for me to use them to create a special work of art.
As a basis, I took a photo of a number of puzzle pieces on glass with lighting from below, so that the seams became clearly visible. I digitally converted this black-and-white photograph into this work of art: a graphic and almost abstract image with a great contrast between the two colours used.
A modern artwork, with beautiful patterns and strong in its simplicity!
The yellow used in this artwork can be changed to another colour on request.
I see making art as a creative process.
