To the far right of the scene are two more seated persons, a standing man with a hat, a man holding his hat in his right hand saluting, and a little boy with a fishing pole. In the foreground of the scene are baskets of vegetables with a severely emaciated dog on the right. On the left side of the canal, on the Aalmarkt, the Waag is depicted in front. In the distance, a bridge crosses the canal. Several ships and boats are moored in the water of the canal.
