Here we see the Sligachan River, on Isle of Skye, Scotland. The rocky bottom breaks and thrusts the water, which has taken on a softer and lighter appearance due to the long shutter speed. Still, if you listen carefully, you can hear the fast-flowing water.
The rising sun on this early spring day turns the Black Cuilins in the background into a magical brightly lit mountain range. The little tree on the right of the picture playfully breaks the horizontal lines.
The viewing line of the flowing water, from middle left to bottom right, from dark to light, is mirrored by the viewing line in the mountain peaks and clouds, from middle left to top right, also from dark to light. It creates a fine balance in the picture, which would certainly not look out of place large on the wall. Coming from winter, the sunlight gives the viewer a warm feeling, while the river can offer coolness on a hot summer day.
