During an autumn holiday on Texel, you can always come across some nice winter visitors. One such guest is this bird; the Snow Bunting. A small songbird that has an incredibly cute head when in winter plumage.
They had been spotted on the beach near the lighthouse, so of course I had to go there and have a look.
Fortunately, there were more birders on the island who could quickly guide you to the right spot.
And yet it is not so easy to spot them then, because they are really perfectly camouflaged on the beach.
With a low vantage point (lying stretched out in the sand), I was able to take this nice little portrait of the Snow Bunting. A minimalist image.
