Sunset on the beach at Katwijk. It is low tide, the blue hour is in full swing. The beach is relaxing after the hustle and bustle of the day.
Together with a friend we specifically went to this beach to photograph the sunset. The planning was a little bit complicated by coordinating the sunset, low tide and both our agendas but we finally managed one day.
This little beach is just next to the so-called outer lock, where the Rhine River eventually flows into the sea. The location was chosen because a large number of seaweed-covered rocks are visible here at low tide. (not in this picture) While photographing the sunset and the stones the shapes in the sand attracted my attention and proved to be excellent subject matter
A very slow shutter speed made the still water even smoother and quieter and contributes to the serene and minimalist feel of this work. A similar picture is also available in portrait.
