A beautiful blue sky with white clouds, how Dutch do you want it?
Add a couple of sailing boats and the picture is complete.
I took this photo in August 2024, a beautiful day to sail the sloop from Almere towards Marken.
The modern red sailboat contrasts beautifully with the blue sky and makes a nice contrast with the old
Frisian flatboat from Harlingen.
When the Houtribdijk was built between Enkhuizen and Lelystad in 1976, the Markermeer was split off from the IJsselmeer.
The tourist Dutch villages of Marken, Volendam, Hoorn and Enkhuizen all lie on the western side of the Markermeer.
The Ford island of Pampus is also located off the coast of Muiden in the Markermeer.
Access to Amsterdam (the IJ) can be reached from the Markermeer via the Oranjesluizen at Schellingwoude.
A great tourist attraction of Marken is of course the lighthouse "The Horse of Marken".
A favourite photographic subject of many photographers and tourists.
My great passion is portrait photography, especially children and the elderly,
but especially in Fine Art photography, I can lose myself completely.
