Roermond under threatening skies by Marjan van der Heijden

The suburbs of Roermond on the evening of 6 June 2026. A dark cloud was approaching the town. By using a longer exposure time, the cloud appears softer but no less menacing. What’s more, the car headlights are visible. I love long exposure times and cities in the evening light. The weather and the dark cloud made me turn around and get the camera into position. Luckily, I had a tripod with me and an umbrella ;). People were enjoying themselves on the terrace, car's reden voorbij en ondertussen naderde de wolk. Want het leven lijkt voorbij te vliegen, net zoals de auto's, but sometimes you have to pause and reflect on what is happening at that moment.

Especially for lovers of Roermond’s convivial atmosphere, this is a lovely photo for the wall, in colour or black and white. It makes you pause for a moment; there is plenty to see in the photo: the little houses, the terraces, the passing car's, the dozens of bicycles, the man by the water, the little boat, the cheerful flowers at the water’s edge.....
