About ‘Resting African spoonbill’ by Gert van Eck

The African spoonbill is found in sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar, but avoids dry areas and tropical rainforest. It is a bird of large, shallow inland lakes and ponds and is also found, but less frequently, in salt water such as coastal lagoons, salt pans and estuaries.

Unlike the native spoonbill, the characteristic features of the African species are its pinkish red legs and bare red skin between the eye and bill. In this, the species differs from the (common) spoonbill, which is about the same size. The African spoonbill is entirely white.

My autonomous work consists of reportage, travel photography, nature photography including landscape, animals, weather and atmospheric phenomena and sometimes a little astrophotography. I mean the night sky, but without telescopes.
