A beautiful autumn morning at the famous windmills of Kinderdijk. A windless sunrise with beautiful reflections, a hint of mist and a touch of cloud barely lit by the sun to balance the composition.
The 19 windmills of Kinderdijk are a Unesco World Heritage Site and probably one of the most photographed locations in the Netherlands. The first windmills were built here from as early as the late 15th century to manage the waterlevels of the surrounding farmlands, though most of the present windmills are slightly younger and were constructed in the first half of the 18th century. With the water, the nature around it and the history, it remains a unique location to photograph.
