My name is Gerry van Roosmalen, photographer and author with a passion for images and stories that touch. After years in the corporate world, I followed my heart and chose photography in 2002. I completed the Fotovakschool in Apeldoorn, specialising in portrait and reportage photography.
Documentary and landscape photography have been the core of my work ever since. My camera is my instrument to capture the world in its purest form: raw, still, moving. Whether I work in the studio or outside in nature - each image is a search for authenticity, for what touches without embellishment.
The World in Pictures: Real Experiences, Not Fantasies
What I capture is not a dream world. They are real places - visible, tangible, reachable. Each work is an invitation to rediscover reality. Because in the real lies the greatest beauty.
My love for the rugged north took me to Iceland and Greenland, among other places. This resulted in several books, including Why Greenland, Ode to Iceland and Icelandic Pearls.
