Portraits of a couple, possibly Pieter Gerritsz Bicker and Anna Codde, Maarten van Heemskerck, 1529.
A man is busy making up his greenhouse, while a woman is sitting on the spinning wheel. Probably this couple was painted because of their engagement or marriage. He is depicted as a careful merchant, she as a diligent housewife. These are two of the earliest portraits of Dutch citizens.
