Painting Bacchus by Caravaggio Bacchus (c.1596) is a painting by Italian Baroque painter Caravaggio. It hangs in Sala del Caravaggio of the Uffizi Museum in Florence. It is an oil painting on canvas measuring 95 x 85 cm. The painting depicts the Roman and Greek god Bacchus, god of wine, with a glass of wine in his hand. Caravaggio full name Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio (Amerighi da Caravaggio, located in the province of Bergamo, 29 September 1571 - Porto Ercole, present-day municipality of Monte Argentario, 18 July 1610), was an Italian painter who lived during the Baroque period. However, his work is relatively unique for the time.
