About ‘Ode to the female form’ by Atelier Maartje

This painting is one of the first I ever created. It is painted in acrylic on canvas.
Unfortunately, the original no longer exists.

Whilst creating this piece, I got to know the medium—acrylic paint. I had never before been able to work with this medium on such a large scale'n formaat schilderij gemaakt. Ik weet nog hoe vrij het voelde om op zo'.

Of our species, humanity, I find women the most beautiful. The rounded forms, the grace and softness... even if the woman herself is tough and rougher.

The work is created using acrylic paint in the colours red, orange, copper, green, blue, emerald, dark blue, dark brown and caramel brown.

The urge to create remained and so, after years of experimenting with materials, she intuitively developed her own style.
