About ‘Painting: Generations | Dark Night of the Soul’ by Atelier Maartje

This painting is one of four on the theme of ‘Dark Night of the Soul’, and I created it at a time when my life had come to a complete standstill.

I had a slipped disc, burnout, and on top of that, all sorts of trauma-'s from my childhood were surfacing. A period of intense introspection began, both on my own and with a psychologist.

And once again, creating was my outlet. I created what gave me strength. ‘Generations’ was one of them. I wanted – at all costs – to prevent my daughters from having to go through the same thing as me. It stops with me! ‘Generations’ offers hope for the future. Original Artwork: Hand-painted with acrylic paint on canvas, size 70 cm x 50 cm. Profound Theme: ‘ "Donkere Nacht van de Ziel" ’ invites reflection and personal growth.
